Celebrating the Pets That Make Forsyth County Smile
Welcome to Pet of the Week in FoCo!
If there’s one thing we know about Forsyth County, it’s that our pets aren’t just animals—they’re family.
Whether they’re hiking the trails at Sawnee Mountain Preserve, enjoying a boat ride on Lake Lanier, playing fetch in the backyard, or faithfully greeting us at the front door every day, our pets make life richer in countless ways.
That’s why LivingInForsyth.com created Pet of the Week in FoCo—a community celebration of the amazing dogs, cats, horses, birds, rabbits, reptiles, and other beloved companions that call Forsyth County home.
Every week we’ll feature one local pet and share their story with thousands of readers throughout Forsyth County and North Georgia.

This week’s Pet of the Week in FoCo is a pint-sized pup with a big personality. Meet Salvatore, an adorable Miniature Dachshund from South Forsyth who has captured the hearts of his owners, Andrew and Christina, and everyone lucky enough to meet him.
Like many Dachshunds, Salvatore may be small in stature, but he’s overflowing with confidence, curiosity, and charm. Whether he’s exploring a local trail, greeting new friends with his signature wagging tail, or proudly carrying his favorite toy around the house, Salvatore approaches every day like it’s a new adventure.
His most prized possession? A well-loved Mr. Squirrel Squishy toy that rarely leaves his side. Whether it’s a spirited game of fetch, a playful tug-of-war, or simply cuddling up with it after a busy day, Mr. Squirrel has become Salvatore’s constant companion.
When it’s time to get outside, you won’t have to look very far to find him. Salvatore’s favorite place in Forsyth County is any local park. From leisurely walks under the trees to watching children play and meeting fellow dog lovers, every outing is an opportunity to discover something new. Forsyth County’s beautiful parks and green spaces provide the perfect playground for curious pups like Salvatore, and he seems to enjoy every minute spent outdoors.
Andrew and Christina say that Salvatore has a way of making ordinary days feel special. Whether he’s racing through the house with surprising speed, curling up for an afternoon nap, or greeting visitors as though they’re lifelong friends, his playful spirit and affectionate nature bring smiles wherever he goes.
Anyone who has ever shared life with a Miniature Dachshund knows they’re famous for their loyalty, intelligence, and sometimes stubborn determination. Salvatore is no exception. He has a knack for keeping his family entertained with his expressive face, comical antics, and larger-than-life personality packed into a very compact frame.
Pets like Salvatore remind us why we love living in Forsyth County. They encourage us to get outside, meet our neighbors, enjoy our parks, and appreciate the simple moments that often become our favorite memories. Whether it’s an afternoon walk through the neighborhood or a sunny day exploring one of Forsyth County’s many beautiful parks, Salvatore is always ready for his next adventure.
Congratulations to Salvatore, our Pet of the Week in FoCo! We hope his story brings a smile to your day just as he brings joy to Andrew, Christina, and everyone who has the pleasure of meeting him.
