Pollinator Garden Fowler Park

Fowler Park Lions Club Braille Trail & Pollinator Gardens Renovation

The Fowler Park Lions Club needs your help!

The Trail and Pollinator Gardens at Fowler Park are in need of renovation, requiring drainage work, gravel installation, replacement of timber path borders, planting approx 24 native pollinator plants, and mulching of the two beds.

Because this Trail/Garden supports and services both the visually and sight-impaired in this and surrounding communities, partners and volunteers are needed to help on this restoration project, especially donors for PHASE 2. Learn more about volunteering and supporting this effort HERE.

The First Volunteer Community Plant & Mulch Day is Saturday, May 17th from 10a-12 noon. Then again on the following Saturday, May 24th.

Phase 2 will follow with the 160 ft major trail renovation. Extra community support is needed; $3,200 has been raised to date, but $8,000 is needed to complete the trail restoration.
All monetary donations include donors listed on trail signage and social media recognition, showing dedication to beautifying and adding the much-needed pollinating plants in our community to be enjoyed by all.

Fowler Park’s Braille Trail is located near the entrance to the Big Creek Greenway in Fowler Park. The trail is approximately 200 yards in length and is comprised of eight braille signs and two sensory gardens.  “This project began in early 2017 and was made possible by the Forsyth County Lions Club in partnership with Ms. Fedorchuk’s 4th grade class at Kelly Mill Elementary School,” said Jim Pryor, Director Parks & Recreation.

The Braille Trail includes guide ropes located on the right side for visually impaired individuals to navigate the trail. Braille signs are placed throughout the trail with information about Forsyth County, Fowler Park, the Forsyth County Lions Club and the sensory gardens.
