Spring Fun This Week in Forsyth County + North Georgia

The weather is nice, the kids need something to do, and honestly, I’m always looking for an excuse to get out of the house this time of year. If you are too, this week has a great mix of family fun, local events, and easy North Georgia ideas to add to your calendar.

Whether you’re planning around nap schedules, sports, teenagers, or just trying to find one thing that gets everybody off their screens for a while, there’s a nice mix this week. You can keep it simple and stay local with Cumming City Center, or make a day of it with a festival drive into the mountains.

Top Picks

Easter Fun at Cumming City Center

If you have little kids, this is probably the easiest yes of the week. The Easter Egg Hunt at Cumming City Center includes egg hunts every 30 minutes, bounce houses, games, face painting, and photos with the Easter Bunny, which is basically a recipe for a very happy afternoon.

I love events like this because they feel festive without being complicated. You can show up, let the kids do their thing, grab a few cute pictures, and still keep the rest of the day flexible.

Free Friday Night Concert at City Center

If you’re looking for something more fun than another night on the couch, Human Clay, a tribute to Creed, is playing the Lou Sobh Amphitheater on Friday night. It’s free, local, and easy, which honestly checks a lot of boxes this time of year.

This is one of those outings that works whether you make it a date night, meet up with friends, or bring older kids who are into live music. Add dinner before the show and you’ve got a full evening without much effort.

  • When: Friday, April 17, 7:00–9:00 pm

Stay Local

Monday Mood: Yoga on the Green

If your week needs a calmer start, Monday Mood: Yoga on the Green is such a nice local option. It’s a free all-levels outdoor yoga class at City Center, and it feels like exactly the kind of thing that helps reset your brain after a busy weekend.

Even if yoga isn’t usually your thing, this one feels approachable. Fresh air, movement, and an hour outside is sometimes all it takes to feel a little more human again.

  • When: Monday, April 13, 6:00–7:00 pm

  • Where: Lou Sobh Amphitheater, Cumming City Center

Saturday Morning Farmers Market

There’s just something about a spring farmers market that makes the weekend feel off to a better start. The Cumming Farmers Market at City Center has farm-fresh produce, meats, eggs, honey, baked goods, plants, handmade items, and all the little things that make you want to linger a bit longer than planned.

This is the kind of outing that works whether you’re shopping with a list or just want coffee in hand and something easy to do with the family. Bonus: it feels productive and fun, which is kind of the sweet spot.

  • When: Saturday, April 18, 8:00–11:00 am

Spring Market at Cumming City Center

If you love local shopping, this is a good one to put on your calendar. The Cumming City Center Spring Market brings together 100+ local vendors, live music, a kids zone, and a full day of community fun.

This feels like one of those events where you can say you’re “just popping by” and then end up staying half the afternoon. Between the boutique finds, home décor, gifts, and kid-friendly activities, it has enough going on to make it feel like a real weekend outing.

A Sunday Option for Kids

If your kids still need somewhere to burn energy by Sunday afternoon, City Center has enough going on this weekend that you can make a whole day of it. Between the Easter event and the usual family-friendly setup around the green, it’s one of the easiest places to land if you want something simple and close to home.

This is especially good if you want an outing that doesn’t require much prep. Sometimes the best family plan is just heading somewhere you know will have space to move, something fun happening, and food nearby.

Take a Drive

Dahlonega’s Bear on the Square

If you’ve been craving a spring day in the mountains, Bear on the Square Mountain Festival in Dahlonega is probably the best “take a drive” pick of the week. The festival runs April 17–19 and brings together Appalachian music, art, workshops, and that classic small-town North Georgia charm that’s hard to beat this time of year.

This is the kind of day trip that feels worth the extra effort. You can walk the square, listen to live music, browse local booths, and stretch the day into lunch, coffee, or a little shopping downtown.

  • When: April 17–19

  • Where: Downtown Dahlonega

Georgia Renaissance Festival

If your family likes themed outings and doesn’t mind a longer drive, the Georgia Renaissance Festival is another fun option this week. It’s more of a full-day commitment, but that’s part of the fun if you’re looking for something bigger than your usual local stop.

This one works especially well for families with kids who love costumes, performances, and interactive experiences. It’s definitely more of a “make a day of it” outing, but sometimes that’s exactly what spring weekends are for.

  • When: April 18–19

  • Where: Fairburn, Georgia

A Few More Thoughts

If your week is already feeling full, I’d keep this one simple: Friday night concert, Saturday market, Sunday Easter fun. That’s probably the easiest way to build a really fun weekend without overdoing it.

And honestly, that’s kind of the sweet spot this time of year. A few easy plans, a little sunshine, something fun for the kids, maybe a local coffee in hand, and suddenly the whole week feels lighter.
